The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) announced today the creation of the Ontario Home Ownership Index which is a province-wide research survey conducted by a leading global polling firm, Ipsos Reid, that will assist in understanding the public’s views on the Real Estate market across the province.

Pulse of Real Estate in Ontario

Public opinion polling will be conducted twice per year to keep the index up to date. The benchmark poll was conducted in the fall of 2013.

Key findings in the initial release of the index include:

  • 89% feel that it is better to own than rent in the long run
  • 82% feel that Real Estate is a good investment
  • 34% predict a stronger market for next year
